First I have to say I'm sorry for my lack of blogging lately...definitely something I will be doing more now that I'm finally feeling well again! :-) This past weekend, my best friend Jenifer and I decided to take a little trip back to our hometown of Jasper for the yearly Appreciation Days Festival. We both decided that we would enter the kids in the baby contest. By kids I mean her youngest, Ruby, and of course...Nicholas. This was the first time I've ever entered any of the boys in a baby show and I'm glad that Jen talked me into going too! Ruby won 2nd place in her division and Nicholas won 1st place in his division!! yay!!! He got a little trophy and everything (which he immediately decided looked tasty enough to eat :-) We even ran for the "grand prize" winner but didn't walk away with that prize. That's okay though...I know my baby boy is the cutest in the area.....okay, so i'm a little biased but he is pretty darn cute! Here are a few pictures from our morning. We had so much fun that I think we'll end up going back next year and giving it a try again!
Jen waiting for the festivities to start
Ruby was such a good girl that day...she basically just wanted to sleep....
Nicholas was fascinated with Ruby...good thing since they're betrothed!! lol
Jen & Ruby take their turn on the stage...that is my cousin Kayla on the right with her new baby girl who was only 17 days old!
Nicholas and I patiently waiting our turn
Nicky just wanted to look around at all the other babies
Grand prize voting.....there were some cuties up there that day!!
Nicholas and his trophy....

Bear with me...this is a long one!
I'm finally playing catchup on my blogging so bear with me! Ian started 2nd grade this year at a new school and so far..he is LOVING it! Thank goodness! But then again, Ian has always liked school and has opted to attend summer school every year since kindergarten too. He loves to learn and is such a little artist! One of these days I'm going to replace my scanner and I'll have to share some of his artwork with you all. He just made a 5 ft long picture of a dragon that he hung out in his Daddy's "gym". It's quite a work of art I must say! I'm also posted some of the pictures that Ian has been taking with my camera. I never really know what I'm going to find when I upload pictures from my camera!
Trevor also started school this year! He had been attending a preschool for 2 mornings a week at a local church, but was accepted into the school district's Pre-K program for this year. Yay!! This was his first full week (I say full, but really he is still only going 2 mornings every week) and so far...so good! As many of you know, Trevor is my little wild child and you just never can tell what he is going to do...or say...next. He constantly keeps me guessing! But so far he is loving it and he tends to get a little upset with me on days that he doesn't get to go. He has been singing songs to me and is very proud of his work that he has been bringing home. He got to take his first item to show and tell this week and I bet you could guess what it was in one try....a car! That boy carries cars around with him all the time! I bet next week when it's supposed to be a yellow item he'll take his new yellow race car!
He was up before anyone else that morning because he was so excited!
He kept saying "come one Mom...we're gonna miss it!"
Trev was so proud of his name tag...he wouldn't let go of it and held it in front of himself like this for most of the time!
He was being so good standing in line! I was so proud of him and he wasn't the least bit bothered that I had to leave him there! *whew* He's getting to be such a little man!
He was trying to get the little guys in front of him to follow the rest of the line :-)
Ian is always happy to go to school!
this is an Ian pic...hi Nicky!
I have about 50 different shots like these to choose from :-) He went a little camera happy!
What a handsome face he's got! Reminds me of his Daddy ;-)
He was so excited to start school this year!
Had to get a shot of him in front of his new school! He's growing up so fast!

I've been bad.......
I admit it....I'm a bad blogger these days. In my defense, I must say that I have been extremely busy here lately between school runs, family time, and of course...cake making! I am going to my very first cake decorating class tonight and I am so excited! Unfortunately, I have to take a beginners class before I can move on to the advanced stuff, but you do what you gotta do! I pretty much know the basics, and some of the advanced stuff too, but still haven't tackled flower making..hence the class. Up until now I have taught myself, with the occasional questions answered by my wonderful Mother-in-law. I have been commissioned for a few wedding cakes and if I'm going to do them right...I need some instruction! So, wish me luck! It should be fun...I love learning new things! Here are some pictures of my latest creations that have kept me so busy...3 a week for the last 3 weeks! yay!!! I still need to make myself some business cards but need a name for myself I guess.....send me some suggestions! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Alvin & the Chipmunks....this is the exact picture the little girl picked out...she loved it!
This one looked way better before it gotted pulled into the floor...yes...the floor. Just as I went to grab my camera, my little stinker of a son pulled himself up high enough to grab it and yanked it into the floor. Amazingly it didn't land upside down but it did crinkle it. I had to scrape off one whole side of it and redo it....also had to fix Dora and tried to smooth out the wrinkles and cracks the best I could. (all in about 30 minutes before it was due to be picked up) They still loved it thankfully, but I wish I had gotten a picture BEFORE it got messed up...it looked so good beforehand! :-(
The baby bear I made for a Dallas Cowboys themed baby shower
I later added the baby's last name to the bear's jersey :-)
The finished product.....she LOVED it!
Jimmie Johnson's #48 race car..........I don't even follow racing but gave it a shot anyway
The little girl who got this Spongebob cake loved it so much she wanted to sleep with it! lol
Here kitty kitty...................this was made out of 3 cakes...it was a heavy sucker!
Trevor loved this one and kept Meowing at it!
The little girl who got the cat cake also wanted a flower cake...this one is actually glittery all over but it's hard to tell in the picture....she thought this was too cool :-)
Last but not least is Nicholas's 1st birthday cake....a baby panda bear! He loved taking swipes of icing off the back of it!
